ONPURE Wolves defeat HUAWEI Dragons 4 - 2

After narrow losses in the first week, both the ONEPURE Wolves and HUAWEI Dragons were looking for a win in the second round of the LEARNCOACH New Zealand Badminton League.

OnePure Wolves Roanne Apalisok and Oliver Leydon-Davis celebrate winning the Mixed Doubles and the tie.

The HUAWEI Dragons remained consistent in their line-up, with Oscar Guo and Ashley Tan paired again in the opening match. The ONEPURE Wolves spearheaded a new pairing of Joshua Feng and Anona Pak, which proved fruitful with a straight-game win for the Wolves.

The singles were a one-sided affair, with both Guo and Shaunna Li dominating the court, only letting the Wolves sniff a handful of points.

Dragons’ Adam Jeffrey and Dylan Soedjasa looked to add a win for the Dragons but it was the Wolves’ Oliver Leydon-Davis and Evan Wong who took control of the attack in the latter stages to earn the match in three games.

The Wolves did not take their foot off the pedal, blitzing through both the Women's Doubles and Mixed Doubles in narrow games.

The Crystal Ashley Match Day MVP was awarded to ONEPURE Wolves' Anona Pak.
